DofE...

THIS ISN'T AN EXCITING POST. So on Friday I started my Duke of Edinburgh award. For people not in the UK (or do people abroad do duke of Edinburgh?) the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) is like an award that you get for doing volunteer work and skills and an expedition. The expedition is 2 day walk where you camp over night (if you are getting your bronze award). So you do a really long walk on the first day - carrying all of your stuff with you - and then you camp, and then you do a shorter walk on the second day. It's all about orienteering and stuff. It's hell basically. But anyway, I just wanted to say that if you are doing DofE or anything like it, here are the clothes that saved me...

Get a wick top. I don't know the real name but they wick away moisture and keep you cool or keep you warm. They are not fashionable but they look better than sweat patches.

leggings. They are cool and you can put things over them easy.

That is all. This is my only fashion advice for DofE because it is not fashionable at all and anyone who looks good while doing it must not be from this world. Don't be one of those girls that wakes up at 6 in the morning to go do their make up before they go on a giant trek. I'm going to go sleep for a thousand years now so you may not hear from me for a while.

also, tie your hair up.

London Fashion Week...

Okay, I know I'm late (very late) but as my friend says "always late but worth the wait"... Maybe not the case here exactly but oh well! I wanted to tell you about my absolute favourite from London Fashion week and just never got round to it before because I've been so busy!
Anyway, my definite favourite of London Fashion Week had to be Orla Kiely! When I saw her collection I immediately thought of Moonrise Kingdom (I'm slightly obsessed with the film and have done a post about it before here) and just loved everything about it! It looked like African adventurer explorer meets girly retro school girl? I loved the whole feel of the show with the safari camp back ground and props, even the way the models acted was great! I really liked the bright animal prints and cute dresses with collars, to be honest there wasn't anything I didn't like about it, she even made socks and sandals look alright!

I love it! Feel free to tell me your favourites!

Quick Tip Tuesday...

After taking your nail varnish off, soak your nails in some olive oil for a few minutes. Then rub it in a bit and wash it off. The oil strengthens your nails so they don't break as easily!

Jeans for Genes day...

So,yesterday was Jeans for Genes day which is a charity that raises money for genetic disorders in the UK.
It's a day when you basically get your work or school to all dress in jeans on this one day and donate money to the charity. I think it's a great idea and so I wore jeans. So, I thought the only thing I could post about on a fashion blog today was jeans! (I love them and I have no idea what I would wear if I didn't have them)

Everyone needs a pair of jeans. They are completely practical, warm in the winter, go with pretty much anything, there is a type to suit everyone and they look good. I love them!

So my favourite has to be the skinny jeans....

and then high waisted jeans...

and recently mom jeans...

All of these jeans are from topshop so the best part is they're not ridiculously expensive! So yeah, get some jeans for winter!

Quick Tip Tuesday...

I know... ear buds... wow you can clean your ears with them. But I just want to tell you that these little things are soooooo useful. Dip them in make up remover and you can correct eye liner or mascara, dip them in nail varnish remover and you can clean the edges around your nails to neaten them up (they're also really good for getting things out your eyes as well) they can really make everything look neater.

DIY!...

So for Christmas last year my Nain and Taid (grandma and granddad) bought me a mini sewing machine and for agessssssss I have been meaning to make something on it. Only problem is, I haven't really made much on a sewing machine before. I really wanted to make a top but I have no idea how yet so for some practice I decided to make a pillow case... I know... exciting. But anyway, I went and bought some nice blue paisley fabric and decided to make it today. So I thought I would share my first proper sewing machine experience with you... I don't know why.

First I used the pillow I was covering to draw around it on the fabric with some extra around the sides to make sure it fit. I also left an extra bit one the top of one of the sides for the fold over the top of the pillow that the fastener thingy would go on. Then I ironed down the top of one side to make the hem and the other side to make the fold for the top of the pillow. After sewing this I put the patterned parts of the fabric facing each other so the pillow case was inside out and sewed it together. The I turned it inside out - so it was the right way - and that was the machine sewing part done (well it wasn't really, I made it too big at first so I resewed the bottom to make it smaller). Then I just hand sewed the "snap fasteners" onto the inside of the pillow, one of the hem, one on the fold.  (by the way make sure you don't sew them on the wrong way round like I did at first...) And then you're done!

I know it's super easy and I didn't really need to tell you how to make it but you have no idea how chuffed I was that I actually made something! Plus it goes really well in my room.

Inspired by...

One of my all time ever favourite films there has ever been in the whole world has to be Moonrise Kingdom. I love it. The scene when they're dancing on the beach together makes me cry so much every time for absolutely no reason. I also love the clothes and the time it's set in so I thought why not do an "Inspired By" post!? So here it is. But! While you are reading this you must be listening to this song...

So, now you're listening here is my Suzy Bishop inspired post...

dresses from pop boutique, missguided, river island and topshop.

dresses from pop boutique, asos and missguided.

Shoes from asos, newlook, topshop and urban outfitters. Barry M eyeliner and Rimmel London eyeshadow stick. Satchel and socks from topshop.

Now all you need is a pair of beetle earrings, a yellow suitcase (which by the way I have looked every where for and can't seem to find one like it!?) a portable record player and a pair of binoculars.
I love Suzy as a character as well as her wardrobe. If you haven't seen Moonrise Kingdom I think you should definitely watch it as soon as possible because it has some really perfect scenes and characters in it.

New York Fashion Week...

So New York Fashion Week started on Thursday the 5th and I was just making sure that all you people that can't go (like me) know that you can watch almost the whole thing live on youtube! Mercedes-Benz fashion week has it's own youtube channel and live streams everyday. Plus between live shows it rebroadcasts collections that were on earlier so you never miss anything!
Just thought this would be useful to you.

Summer is gone...

So, summer is over. I am saying this because it is now pouring it down outside and it is September (and everyone knows that autumn is September, October and November no matter how many times my friends tell me autumn doesn't start until the 15th or whatever).
But while everyone else is sad that summer has left us, I am so excited. Autumn is definitely the best season we have, I love it when the trees turn orange and red and I can hear leaves crunching under my feet. It's the best feeling ever.
So anyway, all I'm saying is don't be sad that Summer is over because now we're saying goodbye to dresses and sunglasses and hello to warm knits and hot chocolate!

Go and buy a new knitted jumper!

BINTM the final!...

GUYS! It's the final of Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model tonight! The three in the final are Emma, Sarah and Lauren. Watch it tonight at 9 o'clock on sky living to find out who wins!
Honestly, I am hoping that Emma wins so much. I think she is so different to the other girls and she actually seems like a nice person and of course she takes amazing photos. Yes, Lauren and Sarah take amazing photos too but Sarah just cries al the time and was scared of absolutely everything (I know she can't help it but it's still annoying) and then Lauren didn't seem like a nice person in the house. Anyway if you click here you can look through all the portfolios, videos and gossip from BINTM.

Here's my favourite photos of the final three!

That's my opinion about the final, what about you?

Quick Tip Tuesday...

When you're drying your hair flip your head upside down and dry your hair that way. Once dry it'll be more "poofy" (voluminous).

Angela&Roi...

So, everyone loves a good handbag, don't lie. And everyone loves making some one feel good or helping someone out. I know these are really different things but Angela&Roi have managed to combine the two.
Angela&Roi are a couple that have made a company designing/making/selling handbags made out of high quality vegan leather. But the best part is: whenever you buy a bag from Angela&Roi $5 of your purchase is donated to charity. So by buying a bag you can help some one else too, kind of like toms the way when you buy shoes they give a pair to a child in need.

The difference with Angela&Roi though is that your $5 is given to a charity depending on which colour bag you buy. "Every Colour Means Something". For example if you buy a pink bag $5 will be donated to a charity for breast cancer, but if you bought a grey bag your $5 would go to a charity for diabetes. Each colour has a different charity connected to it.

I absolutely love this idea. I am completely jealous of everyone living in America because if I lived in America (and had enough money) I would definitely buy one of Angela&Roi's Sunday Totes. I think they are absolutely gorgeous! The only problem is I wouldn't know which colour to get! I also love their Pallet Cross-Body I think they are so cute. I really love these bags and it's great to think that a bit of the money goes to charity.

The Sunday Totes from Angela&Roi!

I really think this is a great idea and the bags are absolutely perfect. Go to their website here or their facebook here!

P.S. guys it's like officially autumn!?
